From Studio to Streets

Okay, we all know that mini panic attack that every dancer faces just before going to a rehearsal or dance class. Frantically digging in the bottom of your closet, grabbing anything flannel, grungy, or remotely gangsta that you own…followed by many attempts at tying, tucking, and fluffing trying to make it all work.  It’s true, half the battle of performing is actually LOOKING the part.  Luckily, “athleisure wear” is one of this year’s top categories in the fashion market, so new styles are steadily hitting the floors! Below are a few of my favorite pieces to set the foundation for an outfit that will have you on trend both in AND out of the studio! Throw on a flowy crop top and flat bill hat, and let’s take it to the streets!

The Essentials: Perfect Pants and Sweet Kicks

THE PANTS

Team up a printed tee or cropped tank with a pair of tapered joggers give a relaxed, off-duty vibe without looking sloppy. Or, show off those stems with leather accented leggings for an urban and sporty re-vamp.

THE KICKS

Return to ole faithfuls like Adidas, Vans, and Nike to get that retro, West Coast street cred. High top sneakers with bright colors, mixed prints, or leather details are ideal to finish off the look!
