The No. 14 Texas Longhorns defeated the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs 28-21 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
The marquee bowl game also featured a slew of celebrity appearances including actor Matthew McConaughey, former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield and former NFL quarterback Archie Manning.
Texas opens next season at home against Louisiana Tech on Aug. 31.
Georgia will open on the road in an SEC contest against Vanderbilt.
