The newly redesigned Four Diamond Marriott Marquis Houston is located in the vibrant downtown district and connected by skywalk to the George R. Brown Convention Center.
ARRIVAL
Upon arrival, there are two options for parking: valet or self-park. Sometimes people dread self-parking due to a far walk (particularly at large hotels/convention centers) compared to simply leaving your car with the valet services. Which I have to admit, I am guilty of this; however, the self-parking was very convenient due to a connected sky bridge from the garage to the convention center and was close too! In the Texas heat, it was refreshing to walk from your car to your room in air conditioning a good majority of the way!
ROOM
The room was great in size, plus no matter which level or which side of the hotel you stayed in, you had a great view! I am one of those people who automatically checks the bed and pillow quality as soon as I walk in—AKA run in and jump on the bed. It is safe to say the bed and pillows are “Lisa Approved.” I had the best night’s sleep to the point where I woke up the next morning and felt like I returned from an alternate dimension.
EATS
The food is delicious as well! I have a gluten intolerance and their menu provides plenty of options for any gluten sensitive guests! I personally recommend their brisket and eggs plate for breakfast. Room service is available all day and all night, which was convenient especially if you are one to crave late night snacks, but they have specific foods available depending on the time of day or night. Dining options in the hotel also include the Biggio’s Sports Bar, Walker Street Kitchen and Cueva Wine Bar.
AMENITIES
The best part of the room though… was their toiletries. It sounds crazy I know! I am biased though. They provide shampoos, conditioners, soaps, and hand lotions from my FAVORITE brand called Thann. I cannot even begin to explain the heavenly smells, so all I ask is that you promise to try this brand at one point in your life preferably sooner than later!
TEXAS-SHAPED POOL
Lastly, the pool area has by far the most creative design I have seen at any hotel. They have one stand-up pool and a lazy river in the shape of Texas. Yes, you read that correctly. It is more easily visible at night once they turn on the lights. There are plenty of chairs available along with cabanas and even a shaded area.

Overall, I had a wonderful time at the Marriott Marquis Houston and highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying!
