Listen to the We’ve Seen That! podcast on the 2004 film Miracle starring Kurt Russell.
The 1980 USA hockey team celebrated the 40th anniversary of winning the gold medal in the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid prior to the Vegas Golden Knights home game against the Florida Panthers.
Al Michaels, the play-by-play announcer on the ABC telecast of the legendary game against the Soviet Union who gave the world the iconic “Do you believe in miracles?” at the end of the game, was on hand in Las Vegas for the event.
“It was the single most important event in the growth of hockey in the United States, Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon said on espn.com. “When you compare the landscape of U.S. players today with what it would have been at that time, it’s incredible how the sport has grown. I just think it was on the front end of tremendous growth in the sport in the U.S.”
Thank you @GoldenKnights for hosting our #40Year #MiracleOnIce reunion last night at the @NHL game vs @FlaPanthers! We had an amazing time & are grateful to all who joined us in this celebration.
