LeBron James has played his final game of the 2018-19 NBA season.

James, who signed a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in the off-season, will be kept out of action to “aid in the recovery of his strained groin” according to espn.com.

This is the first time in the past 13 seasons that James will not be in the NBA playoffs and the record-sixth straight season that the Lakers are not in the post-season.

“After consulting with our team doctors and medical staff, we have decided to hold LeBron out of games for the remainder of the season,” Lakers President of Basketball Operations, Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Lakers General Manager, Rob Pelinka said in a statement. “This decision will allow his groin to fully heal, and is best for the future success of both LeBron and the Lakers.”

The Lakers added in the release that James will travel with the team on the upcoming road trip to New Orleans and Oklahoma City.
