Miami — “I’m Back,” read the Popeyes press release announcing the return of the popular chicken sandwich that took the country by storm this past summer on Nov. 3.
The release of the sandwich sparked a social media battle with Chick-Fil-A that saw Chick-Fil-A poke at Popeye’s for running out of sandwiches in two weeks by saying they never run out of sandwiches while Popeye’s countered that “people need to eat on Sundays” referring to the latter being closed on Sundays.
In Popeye’s announcement of the chicken sandwich’s return, they seemed intent on jabbing Chick-Fil-A again with a photo of a highway sign saying “open Sundays” (see photo below) and launching the sandwich on a Sunday.
