GLEN ELLYN, Ill. — The 2018 Big Buck World Championship took over the brand new Las Vegas eSports Arena at the Luxor Hotel & Casino, for its 11th annual elite Arcade ESports event. Competitors and spectators watched as a brand new Ladies Champion was crowned on Friday, October 26th and a returning champion took home his 4th win on Saturday, October 27th.
On night one of the two-day event, 2017’s runner-up Melissa Romanik from Minnesota came back in 2018 for one reason only… to win. Melissa ran through the winners bracket and ended up in a nail biting match between her and Aussie favorite, Courtney McLauchlan. It was anyone’s game, but Melissa held on to her top spot and proved that this was her year after she placed 3rd in 2016, 2nd in 2017, and then claiming the title of 2018 Big Buck Ladies Tournament Champion! Melissa Romanik walked away with a fresh $5,000, and the Jugs of Destiny, showing the world that with hard work and dedication, anyone can become a champion.
On night two, Trevor Gartner, from the well known Sconnie Snipers crew blasted his way through the winners’ bracket, coming for his 4th overall win with an undeniable fire in his trigger finger. The final match came down to Trevor Gartnerand Australian competitor, Sean Chadwick, who had placed 2nd in 2016. Gartner and Chadwick played a good game, but on the final Buckzilla Trek, Sean doe’d out and lost his shot at a rematch. Trevor played his heart out and earned the title of 2018 Big Buck World Champion, Pappy’s Jug, and over $20,000 in cash and prizes.
