Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway Awards $1 Million To Students Following College Football Conference Championship Weekend

PLANO, Texas — Dr Pepper celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Tuition Giveaway during College Football Conference Championship weekend by awarding $1 million in tuition to students who competed at halftime during five marquee games. Five students took home $100,000 in tuition grand prizes after successfully throwing the most footballs into an oversized Dr Pepper can in 30 seconds.

“I am extremely thankful for the opportunity Dr Pepper provided me, and it is even more incredible that I got to be a part of the 10th anniversary of the program,” said SEC Championship winner, Alina Scarlett. “Dr Pepper has been unbelievably generous through this whole process, and it is very clear they truly care about us students and our education.”

This year’s $100,000 tuition grand prize winners include:

  • Dr Pepper ACC ChampionshipBryce McWhirter from Plains, Texas studying engineering at South Plains College
  • Big 12 ChampionshipJennifer Stathopoulos from Queen Creek, Arizona studying to be a nurse practitioner at Chamberlain University
  • SEC ChampionshipAlina Scarlett from Mesquite, Texas studying to be a speech pathologist at the University of Texas at Austin
  • Big Ten ChampionshipCaleb Lines from Nashua, Iowa studying agricultural studies at Wartburg College
  • Pac-12 ChampionshipAlberto Reyes from Houston, Texas studying business at University of Houston-Downtown
