One of the few professional dance opportunities in Northern California is looking for new team members – and is doubling up with a new squad. The Sacramento Kings Dancers are hosting an open audition to fill two teams to entertain NBA and G League Crowds, as well as serve as community ambassadors.

On Monday, June 18, dancers aspiring to take center court for the Sacramento Kings and new Stockton Kings will need to put their best foot forward during competitive auditions.

Registration at the Sleep Train Arena Practice Facility – 1 Sports Parkway Sacramento, CA, 96834 – will open at 4 p.m and dance instruction starting promptly at 5 p.m. Styles used at the audition will be Jazz and Hip Hop.

All those interested in trying out must be 18 years of age or older by October 1, 2018 and should:

  • wear a two-piece dance ensemble with nude nylons/tights,
  • wear non-marking soled shoes,
  • bring a headshot, no smaller than 5×7 (photos will not be returned), and
  • bring a resumé.

Final callbacks will be the next day and will include an on-camera interview, as well as a final dance audition. Dancers who are invited to final callbacks should bring their own business attire for the interview and will be required to perform an audition choreography in addition to four eight-counts of a freestyle dance solo.

On the court, Kings Dancers showcase their personalities through performances set to various types of music that ranges from Top-40s hits to culture music that supports numerous theme nights, including Salute to Service, Bollywood Night and Lunar New Year.

Off the court, the dancers participate in over 200 community appearances throughout the region and initiatives that give back, while pursuing their own interests outside of dancing, as the Kings promote personal growth amongst all members.
