The Dallas Stars defeated the New Jersey Devils 2-0 at American Airlines Center.
This was the first game as Stars head coach for Rick Bowness, who was promoted from assistant coach to replace the fired Jim Montgomery earlier in the day.
“The Dallas Stars expect all of our employees to act with integrity and exhibit professional behavior while working for and representing our organization. This decision was made due to unprofessional conduct inconsistent with the core values and beliefs of the Dallas Stars and the National Hockey League,” Stars general manager Jim Nill said in a statement.
The Stars win was Ben Bishop’s first shutout of the season and 32nd of his career.
Next up for Dallas is a home game on Friday night against the Vegas Golden Knights while New Jersey is a road game against the Colorado Avalanche.
