The Battle for the Iron Skillet, better known as the TCU Horned Frogs vs SMU Mustangs took place on a rain-soaked night at Ford Stadium on the SMU campus in University Park and the TCU Showgirls were on hand for the long night.
Following a lengthy delay that saw the 7 p.m. kickoff pushed back by two hours, the 16th ranked Horned Frogs came out on top with a 42-12 victory over the rival Mustangs.
Next up for TCU is an nationally televised contest against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and with the Frogs’ sluggish first half, there was little doubt that they were looking ahead to next week’s game.
“We understand the next ballgame here Ohio State is not SMU,” coach Gary Patterson said on espn.com. “Not in any aspect whatsoever. But I think our kids will know that too.”
