PDC: Talk about your dance background

HANNAH: I actually started as a gymnast and actually quit to do drill team and dance in high school. I did that for four years and once I graduated I did college dance for three years. Then last year, I was on the Dallas Stars Ice Girls.

PDC: What was it like to be on the Dallas Stars Ice Girls?

HANNAH: It was definitely one of the best years of my life. I think one thing I did love was not only did I dance but I learned how to ice skate and I had never skated before. When I was a kid, I actually did skating classes, but nothing serious like skating on the ice at an NHL game, so it was a really good experience.

PDC: Was the Stars your first dance team to be on?

HANNAH: Yes and it was great. We are together so much that we establish a sisterhood.

PDC: What did you do to prepare for auditions?

HANNAH: I worked out and watched my diet. As far as working out, I actually did a lot of cardio and stayed away from weights.

PDC: What were your emotions like leading up to audition day at the American Airlines Center?

HANNAH: Honestly, it felt like home since I have been there so many times with the Ice Girls and I think the familiarity actually helped me stay comfortable.

PDC: While you are out there performing, is it nerve wracking with the judges watching?

HANNAH: I’m so focused on my dancing and overall performance that I am not really nervous about the judges.

PDC: You survived auditions weekend and made it to training camp. What’s that like for you?

HANNAH: Now that was nerve wracking! You’ve made it this far and you can easily be cut whenever so you have to stay sharp.

PDC: Do you practice the dances you learned during the days leading up to camp?

HANNAH: Yes, anytime I had during the day was focused on getting better at the dances we had learned. Even when I was in the car, I would play the songs over and over again. Those songs are literally all I listened to all week.

PDC: Describe what it was like when you found out that you had made the team.

HANNAH: It was like a dream. I was right outside the building and I opened the envelope with the first thing I see being “Congratulations!” I ran back inside and it was great to see my new teammates as they came in and we all celebrated making the team.

PDC: Who was the first person you called?

HANNAH: My mom and she was thrilled. She was definitely proud of me.
