NEW YORK — American Media, Inc. (AMI), the leading publisher of celebrity journalism in the United States, unveils its latest podcast, ‘Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death Of Natalie Wood’ set to debut worldwide on July 20, 2018. The new podcast, an original 12-part series, premieres on the day that the doomed star would have celebrated her 80th birthday. Over the next 12 weeks, new episodes will be available to download weekly via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, and everywhere podcasts are available.

Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death Of Natalie Wood‘, is inspired by the reporting of AMI’s world-class investigative reporters. Executive Producer Dylan Howard has spent the last five years documenting the unprecedented and unsolved real-life thriller that spans close to forty years: What really happened to Hollywood megastar Natalie Wood?

The death of the dark-eyed Hollywood beauty stunned fans around the globe, and nagging questions remain about how Natalie met her end in a watery grave on Thanksgiving weekend in 1981 off California’s Catalina Island.

The series takes listeners inside the recently re-opened criminal case in riveting detail, including:

  • The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department give their first in-depth interview since reopening the investigation.
  • A new examination in to allegations of police and law enforcement misconduct, evidence tampering and witness coercion.
  • Following the second criminal investigation and ensuing police investigation of the person of interest, Robert Wagner.
  • Delving deep into archival materials, and uncovering fresh testimony from new witnesses and interviews with those closest to the case.
  • Using modern forensics, the series takes another look at Natalie’s original autopsy, analyzing the many bruises on her body, the drugs in her system and her blood alcohol content.
  • Exploring the mysterious reason behind Los Angeles County Chief Medical Examiner amending her death certificate to “drowning and other undetermined factors” in 2011 from the original ruling “accidental death by drowning” after the ship’s captain changed his story.
  • Boat Captain, Dennis Davern speaks exclusively for the first time in more than four years.
  • And, for the first time ever, the beloved actress will speak from beyond the grave in never-before-heard interviews and excerpts from her unpublished memoir.

“There are an unbelievable number of twists and turns in the story arc of Natalie Wood, it feels like it has to be fictional,” said Dylan Howard, Chief Content Officer of American Media, Inc. Howard also serves as the narrator of the series.

“We have navigated very complex terrain and skillfully woven together an incredible series that leaves you feeling like you’re right in the middle of the action, and for the first time, the real story behind the film icon’s life.

“This is not a retelling of Natalie’s sad story: it is an active investigation of the case,” Howard added. “It will be the most comprehensive investigation since Natalie’s death. And in the end, the listener can decide what happened to the ultimate screen siren… and just who was responsible for her death.”
