MIAMI — On Monday, February 15, ACID NYC presented its Fall/Winter 2016 collection at the Nolcha Shows during New York Fashion Week. The showing took place before a full house of media, industry invited guests, celebrities and influencers at Artbeam, featuring two other runway shows.

Based in Miami, ACID NYC is an example of a “perfect pairing”, the brainchild of husband and wife design-duo Evelyn Luna and Scott Chester. They’re the first to introduce pieces using a new wearable technology, “ThermalTech”, a steel mesh inserted into their garments that absorbs heat to warm the body.

Those in attendance experienced the raw energy of the show, and determinedly contemporary nature of the Fall/Winter collection. The accompanying music set the mood, as eye-catching models strutted the runway. The collection represented unique tailoring, reflecting modern craftsmanship and manufacturing, and impeccable finish. Their smart, and unique pieces, featured vibrant, museum quality prints, on a series of sexy silhouettes apropos from daytime to evening.

In time for the much anticipated show, they debuted a new website. Evelyn Luna stated: “This brand evolution and [new] collection is extremely important. We wanted to ensure that those engaging would interact in a forum that properly represents our brand. Our mission and vision reflects a profound respect and influence for the arts and crafts tradition. We wanted everyone experiencing this preview of our collection to embrace what the ACID NYC lifestyle is”.

Evelyn Luna was born in the Bronx, New York City, studied at the H.S. of Art & Design and received her BFA at New York’s Parsons School of Design. For 13 years she was a key member of Diane Von Furstenberg’s original design staff, that re-launched the DVF brand, and its myriad of successful designs. She subsequently became Director of DVF’s textile dept. In 2003, she ventured on to become Textile Product Manager at Victoria’s Secret lingerie. Before long, Evelyn began consulting independently for DVF, VS Swimwear and other designers in the fashion and home furnishing industry.

Scott Chester was born in Brooklyn, later went to H.S. of Art and Design in Manhattan where he studied Industrial design and met Luna. He graduated to CCS College of Automotive Design in Detroit in 1984, studied product design at Pratt Institute in 1986 then transferred to Art Center in Pasadena California in 1988. In 1990, Scott moved back to Brooklyn and opened ACID Studios to design custom furniture for clients in Manhattan. In 1998, Scott (or ACID) worked with Jon Drew and Marvin Samel to develop ACID Cigars, a premium, hand rolled Cigar brand.

ACID NYC has rapidly gone from an emerging brand to one of the most talked about. Stay tuned!
