PLANO, Texas — Some Pizza Hut fans like pepperoni and sausage on their pizzas, others choose to top their pies up with endless veggies. But in the cases of Terrell Owens and Cortland Finnegan, the order calls for nothing but “beef.”

Owens, one of the greatest wide receivers of all time, and Cortland Finnegan, one of football’s premier defensive backs for the last two decades, will reignite an old rivalry during halftime of the NCAA Division I Football Championship, going head-to-head in an action-packed “50 Yard Delivery Dash” obstacle course.

Owens and Finnegan, both former FCS student-athletes, will be put to the test in a game of speed, agility and football catching, all while delivering Pizza Hut pizza to fans in the end zone. The pair isn’t just fighting to settle an old score, either. The winner will unlock an incredible deal for Pizza Hut Fans. The nationwide offer will be announced after the game on Jan. 6. The “50 Yard Delivery Dash” represents the second installment of “Pizza Hut Rivalry Challenges,” where former college sports rivals square off at NCAA championship games throughout the 2018 season.

“When it comes to college football, you’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger rivalry than one between a wide receiver and a defensive back,” said Doug Terfehr, Sr. Director of Partnerships and Public Relations, Pizza Hut. “But add a legendary wide receiver with a larger-than-life personality to the mix like Terrell Owens and a shutdown defensive back with a crazy competitive drive like Cortland Finnegan, and you’ve set the stage for the ultimate Pizza Hut Rivalry Challenge. As the Official Pizza of the NCAA, we’re thrilled to bring Rivalry Challenges – and huge Pizza Hut deals – to college sports fans all season long.”

Owens and Finnegan are no strangers to on and off the field competition, with more than 30 years of collective college and professional football experience between them. For many of those years, Finnegan covered Owens directly on defense. On Jan. 6, 2018, bragging rights will be awarded officially.

“I’m a fierce competitor. I’m not coming to Frisco to lose, that’s for sure!” said Owens.

The Pizza Hut “50 Yard Delivery Dash” will take place at the NCAA FCS Championship at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Owens and Finnegan, alongside Pizza Hut All-American Jason Zone Fisher, will also take part in pre-game fan events, including fan photos and a Q&A in the venue’s Tailgate Town.

“I have the potential to unlock an offer that every pizza fan is going to love, so there’s no way I’m going to let a wide receiver beat me in this delivery challenge,” said Finnegan.

The Pizza Hut Rivalry Challenges program kicked off at the NCAA DI Women’s Volleyball Championship in Kansas City, Missouri where Pizza Hut matched up former University of Missouri volleyball star Molly Kreklow and former Kansas State University standout Caitlyn Donahue – in a volleyball game on the MissouriKansas state line.
