Just as football season is about to heat up, we have new episodes of the beloved CMT hit series, “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.” The show returns for its 12th season on Thursday, August 3 at 10 p.m. ET (immediately following “Nashville).
In the first episode, would-be cheerleaders from around the globe descend on AT&T Stadium with the common lifelong dream of becoming a member of the world’s most celebrated cheerleading squad – the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

First, they have to impress the judges including Kelli Finglass, director of the squad who delivers the most dreaded sentence in all of cheerleading: “Tonight will be your last night in training camp;” Judy Trammel, head choreographer obsessed with kick-line perfection; “Dancing With the Stars” champ and former DCC’er Melissa Rycroft, who offers individual coaching and pep talks; and Access Hollywood’s Anthony Ramos who eyes the ladies’ style game.
Hopefuls include a mother and daughter duo, a recent high school graduate, a ballroom dancer, a hearing-impaired contestant and trainees from prior years who were cut before making the squad. Some will shine, while others will literally fall flat.
