Maggie is in her rookie season with the Dallas Mavericks Dancers.

She joined us at a recent Dallas Mavericks home game at American Airlines Center for PDC Meet the Dancers:

PDC: Maggie, thank you for joining us! Tell us about your dance background.

MAGGIE: I have been dancing since I was three. I grew up dancing in a studio and then I did some competition dance and then once I hit middle school, I did drill team and pom squad. In high school, I JV pom my freshman year, then was on varsity for sophomore, junior and senior year. I went to TCU and danced for TCU Elite, which was a jazz team, during my freshman year. Then I was on the TCU Showgirls my junior and senior year. A year and a half out of college, I tried out the Dallas Mavericks Dancers and I made the team.

PDC: Describe the TCU Showgirls team and that experience.

MAGGIE: TCU Showgirls are awesome. It’s kind of like the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, but a college version. We wear the cowboy boots and have the poms. They do every single sport from football to basketball and baseball, but we also do women’s basketball, volleyball, basically everything TCU offers. They also do appearances in the community, similar to what we do here with the Mavs Dancers. When TCU was in a bowl game, we would go to the children’s hospitals and it was such a great experience.

PDC: How did being on the TCU Showgirls prepare you for being on the Mavs Dancers?

MAGGIE: First off, my coach with the TCU Showgirls, Lindsay Westbrook was a Dallas Mavericks Dancer for a few years. The styles are similar although showgirls is more technique, but I think that the style overall set me up for success.I was able to transfer some of the hip hop style that we did at TCU and make it work for me with the Mavs.

PDC: Of all of the dance teams that you could have auditioned for, why did you pick the Mavs Dancers?

MAGGIE: I love the Mavs style. I really loved dancing for the basketball games when I was at TCU. Being an indoor sport, it allows me to thrive and look and feel my best at all times.

PDC: What is your favorite part of being a Mavs Dancer?

MAGGIE: Getting to perform again, because I had taken a year off between college and trying out for the Mavs. I had missed it so much. You never know what it’s like to not dance, until you don’t dance for a year.

PDC: What are your favorite movies?

MAGGIE: I’m a romantic, so I’ll say Titanic or Love Actually.

PDC: Who are your favorite movie stars?

MAGGIE: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, because I’ve been told I look like her, so I’m super fan-girling over here

PDC: What’s your favorite TV show?

MAGGIE: Grey’s Anatomy

PDC: Favorite music?

MAGGIE: Country music, I love Brad Paisley

PDC: If you put on your iPod right now, what are some of the songs we would hear?

MAGGIE: You’d find all of my Mavs songs, some Black Eyed Peas and Sammy Adams

PDC: If you could go to any concert, who would you pick to see live?

MAGGIE: I would love to see the Counting Crows live

PDC: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

MAGGIE: I used to live in Singapore when I was a kid, so I love all of the eastern Asia area and I would really like to go back to Australia. I went when I was a kid, we visited an island off the coast of Sydney and stayed there for a few days.

PDC: What about a place you’ve never been?

MAGGIE: Probably either Bora Bora or Turks and Caicos or St. Lucia, it’s on The Bachelor and it looks amazing.
