During the Dallas Cowboys final game of the 2015 season, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders announced that five-year veteran DCC Holly would be the DCC’s representative in Hawaii.

Holly joined us to talk about the honor of being selected to represent the DCC in Hawaii:

How does the DCC determine who goes to the Pro Bowl?

The entire squad is asked to give their input on selecting the one DCC they believe can best represent the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in the Pro Bowl.

This being your fifth season with the DCC, what qualities did you notice/pick up from the Pro Bowl representatives before you that you were able to incorporate into your time on the team?

In addition to our former DCC Pro Bowl representatives being phenomenal dancers and wonderful ambassadors, I think what inspired me most is that they all led our team by example, and they always had our team’s best interests at heart. Each one of them gave 110%, and as a younger member of the squad, that really made a deep impression on me. They were such influential leaders that I decided to set a personal goal to help my teammates, just as they had helped me.

Have you had a chance to reach out to any of the past DCC Pro Bowl representatives to find out what you are in store for? (If so, who and what advice did they give you. If not, what are your expectations for the week?)

Yes! I’ve received encouraging messages and texts from many of our former PBCs! The main thing I have learned from them so far is about the bond of sisterhood they took away from their experience as a PBC! Several of us are meeting together for dinner next week, so I am sure they will share lots of fun stories and advice for the busy week in Hawaii!

How did you find out that you were going to the Pro Bowl?

I found out during our early morning field rehearsal, before our last home game against the Redskins. Kelli and Judy asked our squad to meet on the star for our last official team break, where we chant, “1-2-3, D-C-C”. Kelli spoke to us about reflecting on our season and how it only seemed like moments ago when we were dancing on the field at auditions. She reminded us to take in every single moment that day and to enjoy our last time dancing as together as the 2015-2016 DCC. She then announced that one of us was would be representing our squad at Pro Bowl. When Kelli called out my name, a flood of emotions came over me, and I can hardly remember anything else!

How did you feel when you found out?

I was totally overwhelmed to be selected by my teammates! They all ran to hug me. It was one of the most special moments in my entire DCC career. To be given such a huge honor means the world to me, and to have their support just reminds me why all the hard work as a DCC was worth every moment! Every girl on our squad deserves this honor, so to be chosen to represent them is the greatest feeling in the world!

What was your family’s reaction when you got to share the news with them?

They were so proud and excited for me be able to represent my DCC teammates! My family has enjoyed witnessing my journey as a DCC, and they have supported me through every step, so in a sense I feel like I am sharing this honor with them. They have hardly missed a game in five years, so I can’t wait for my family to see me cheer my final game as one of America’s Sweethearts.

Have you ever been to Hawaii? (if so, give me a few generic details about how much fun it is, if not talk about how much you are looking forward to it)

I have never been to Hawaii, so I can’t think of a better way to spend my first trip! I have heard amazing stories about the beautiful beaches, culture and landscape, and I can’t wait to experience all these things with the other Pro Bowl Cheerleaders.

What are you most looking forward to in going to the Pro Bowl?

I am really looking forward to being an ambassador for the Dallas Cowboys organization and creating new friendships with the other Pro Bowl Cheerleaders. We have started a huge PBC group text, so I already feel a unique bond with them! I’ve heard from former PBCs that after spending only a week with these girls, you feel like you have known them for a lifetime. I’m excited to meet other women from other NFL teams with whom I share the same goals and passion!

What happens between now and when you leave for Hawaii? (Do they teach you dances or is there anything that deviates from a regular DCC week for your preparation?)

I just received an email to learn seven new routines via web link before I arrive in Hawaii! As a DCC, I’m used to learning lots of choreography in a short amount of time, but since the material is online, it’s like I will be teaching myself! Once I arrive in Hawaii, we will have a full week of rehearsals and will continue to learn more new dances. Needless to say, I have some very busy weeks ahead of me in preparation for the Pro Bowl!

After performing the last five years at AT&T Stadium, what do you expect the differences to be at an outdoor venue like Aloha Stadium?

I’ve been very spoiled cheering at the beautiful indoor AT&T Stadium, but in college and high school I performed in the Texas heat, cold, rain and snow! I think performing outdoors in Hawaii will be exhilarating, but whether it is rain or shine at Aloha Stadium, it won’t stop me from dancing my heart out!
