Jordan is in her rookie season with the Dallas Stars Ice Girls.

She joined us at a recent Dallas Stars home game at American Airlines Center for PDC Meet the Dancers:

PDC: With all of the pro dance teams in the Dallas area, what made you want to try out for this team?

JORDAN: I come from a sports back ground, I did pole vaulting and volleyball forever and then I was a cheerleader competitively for my whole life. Then I cheered in high school and college, so I came into this knowing in my head that I was at a bit of a disadvantage because a lot of these girls have been technically trained since they were toddlers. So it was kind of scary, but I used to be roommates with a former Dallas Stars Ice Girl and I’d see her every time she’d come home from practice or from games. I was actually able to come to my first Stars game to see here and I was focused in on how amazing the Ice Girls were and I thought it would be so cool to have this experience. I decided when I graduated college and before I get married and have a family that I was going to give it my best shot. The last thing I wanted to do was never try and then regret it, not knowing what could have happened. I poured everything I had in to it because I didn’t want to leave and say ‘man, I wish I would’ve done this or that or given it 110%.’ I was very excited and very shocked when I made the team.

PDC: How did you prepare for the Dallas Stars Ice Girls auditions?

JORDAN: I really told my self that if I do this, I’m going all in. Had I not made it, I was not going to be mad at myself for lack of effort. I took the Ice Girls prep classes, started running to get my stamina up because I knew that if I made it, dancing for a full NHL game is going to take some stamina and endurance. I had skated probably four times in my life over at the Galleria, so their prep classes really helped because since I had never even attempted anything like this, it got me familiar with the style of dance and being on the ice. The prep classes helped immensely and I would not have been as prepared had I not taken them.

PDC: Is it safe to say that the prep classes took away some of the anxiety of auditioning for such a popular team?

JORDAN: Absolutely. Christina and Kamwin, our directors, are so approachable and they want you to talk to them if you have any questions. They openly invite you at the prep classes to stay after and talk to them with any concerns or questions or comments. So I took advantage of that time to pick their brains and I knew that Kamwin had come from a cheer background like me, so she really helped me with what to focus on and what I would be able to pick up naturally to be able to be in the best position to make the team. I was able to take that feedback home and apply it so that when tryouts came around, I was as prepared as I could be.

PDC: What was the hardest part in coming from a cheer background to adapting to this style?

JORDAN: The hardest part was learning the new routines, retain it and go home and still have it in my brain rather than not knowing where I just came from.

PDC: What have been some of your favorite parts of your rookie season with the Dallas Stars Ice Girls?

JORDAN: It may sound cliched, but it really is the girls and the camaraderie between us. The No. 1 thing I get asked by friends, family and co-workers is “OK, there’s 25 girls, is it dramatic and catty and is there drama daily and is everybody really nice to each other?” I’m being serious when I say that every one of these girls is now like family to me and we all get along really well. Honestly, that was something more so than the dancing was not knowing how it would play out with a big group of girls, but it has been so much fun. The girls have been so wonderful. They are professional businesswomen and wives and students and they care about this team and this organization.

PDC: Do you have a full time job in addition to being a Dallas Stars Ice Girl?

JORDAN: I am in marketing and business development for a title company. My job is the fun job of going out and making new relationships and getting realtors and mortgage officers and lenders to want to close at my company. I get to wine and dine them and throw parties and build the rapport so that when they bring their clients to my company, they trust that things will go smoothly and transactions will close on time.

PDC: What are the highlights of a Dallas Stars game night?

JORDAN: When we score a goal because the entire arena erupts and my adrenaline goes through the roof. 18,000 screaming fans on their feet is unlike anything I had ever experienced. At the beginning of the season, I was terrified of the platform and now it is like a second home to me.

PDC: How would you describe the Dallas Stars fans?

JORDAN: Dallas Stars fans have bought in to this sport. They eat, sleep and breathe hockey. Their passion and enthusiasm is so infectious and I can feel it throughout the American Airlines Center. The way little girls look up to you like you’re some big deal is really fun and an honor that we take serious so that we can be a positive role model. These days with social media and people feeling like they are only successful if they do certain things or look a certain way, it’s really important for me to be able to talk to the younger fans.

PDC: What’s your favorite movie?

JORDAN: I love movies and my favorites go anywhere from Selena starring Jennifer Lopez to Titanic to Mrs Doubtfire and The Shawshank Redemption. I’m kind of all over the place with movies.

PDC: What’s your favorite TV show?

JORDAN: Breaking Bad is a great show, Making a Murderer on Netflix. There’s so many more, but with hockey season being so busy, I am lucky to watch TV once a week

PDC: What’s your favorite food or do you have a favorite place to go eat?

JORDAN: For sit down restaurant, I love Bisteca, it’s an Italian steakhouse in Highland Village, so good! Otherwise, I love Chick-Fil-A! If they had spicy chicken nuggets, my life would be made.

PDC: Let’s finish on a Dallas Stars question. Who’s your favorite Stars player of all-time?

JORDAN: Isn’t everyone’s favorite Mike Modano? When hockey came into my life, all I ever heard was Mike Modano and that’s who I watched growing up, so for me, definitely Mike Modano!
