From Paris to Palm Springs – Cheering for Love

Turns out World Peace might be coming sooner than we thought…

I realize I probably sound overly optimistic and maybe a little bit crazy, but if you experienced what I did this past few weeks you just might start to believe it too.

Rewind a few years back to the time a sweet little Texan named Kristen met a handsome (and Parisian) lawyer during his practice in Houston. It didn’t take long for him to sweep Kristen off of her feet and all the way to Paris!

Although we were sad that Kristen would be moving across the world, we were ecstatic to find out that both her bachelorette AND wedding would be taking place in France! I was looking at flights before I hung up the phone.

Now it’s September 2016 and my days are revolving around football again; exactly how I like it! Just when things are starting to get good (AKA the Cowboys are winning), it’s time to grab my Passport and jet off to Paris, where Notre Dame is always winning and kickers are the MVPs. Bon Voyage!

When I came home from France, our group chat was still going strong as we shared all of the challenges getting back to the states and hilarious pictures from the trip. But I didn’t have much time to reminisce. Two days later the sweaters and hats in my luggage were replaced with sundresses & swimsuits for a weekend in sunny Palm Springs. On to the next!

Weddings are a celebration of love and happiness, and I’m always excited to catch up with friends I haven’t seen in years. But these particular destination weddings were more than that for me. It might sound corny, but coming home from these two nuptials I actually felt changed as a person. My eyes were opened a little bit wider and I felt a refreshed outlook on life.

With that said, I thought I’d share a few tidbits I picked up on the trip.

From Paris to Palm Springs

  1. Always say “oui” to a French wedding. kat 3kat4

(Are we in a movie or what?)

  1. The best part about eating escargot is dipping your bread in the sauce afterwards.

  1. If you find yourself going to a wedding solo, convince your friends to get a house together. Thanks AirBNB!

  1. You’ve come too far to not take a picture every single time you pass the Eiffel Tower…

  1. If you’re tearin’ up the dance floor in Paris and security comes to rope it off, don’t be upset. It just might be the Biebs.

kat12

  1. Don’t get upset if you aren’t seated with your besties at a wedding. Your new BFF could be sitting right next to you!

  1. You can never eat too much in France. You can also never walk too far. Like how that works out? #EatWalkRepeat

(Speaking of food, taking pictures of cheese at the market is a French faux pas & they WILL come after you…)

  1. Your phone will come home with you; Paris will not! So live in the moment and take it all in!

  1. Appreciate the traditions of other cultures and/or religions.

(I absolutely love this! All of the bridesmaids signed a contract showing support for the marriage of our friends.)

  1. Things will ALWAYS go wrong when traveling. Most of the time, they end up being the best memories and funniest stories.
