Dallas Stars Ice Girls 2016 Swimsuit Calendar Release Party

By Jay Betsill

DALLAS — The Dallas Stars Ice Girls unveiled their 2016 swimsuit calendar with a release party at Sambuca in Uptown.

The dinner club on McKinney Avenue provided an upscale backdrop with a graceful ambiance for the event that was all about the Ice Girls and their fans that lined up to be among the first to get the new calendar.

Stars Ice Girls director Christina Swanson welcomed everyone who had already lined up well in advance of the event’s 7 p.m. start time and announced the swimsuit calendar was now officially available for purchase.

This is the second year the Ice Girls have held their calendar release party at Sambuca. Rather than donning their uniforms that they wear for Dallas Stars home games a American Airlines Center, the ladies were clad in chic black dress that further elevated the status of the fashionable event.

“The calendar release party is always one of my favorite nights of the year,” said four-year veteran Melissa. “It’s always special to see everyone’s friends and families and how excited and proud they all are, especially in the rookies’ case, it’s really cool to see them get to experience this for the first time.

“My grandparents are here from Florida and they have never been to a Stars game, so they came in town early for Thanksgiving and were able to come tonight and will go to their first game this week,” she continued. “Even though they don’t live in Texas, they still keep up with the Stars, so it is really special for me to have them here and to get to introduce them to everyone.”

The 22 Ice Girls were lined up at cocktail tables with their calendar photos behind them and positioned in order of appearance in the calendar beginning with the cover model Kayla and Miss January Olivia and wrapping around back to the patio to the “Courtney Corner” with Courtney C. and Courtney J who were Miss November and Miss December.

The Ice Girls had their own version of a release party when the calendar was revealed to them at practice prior to the party. The calendar was shot at multiple locations across the Austin area.

This year’s calendar was photographed by Jerome Miron.

The Dallas Stars Ice Girls 2016 Swimsuit Calendar is on sale for $20. Autographed copies are available for $30. There is also an option to purchase a calendar to be donated to a member of the military. For further information, visit DallasStars.com.
