KENDALIA, TX — The Dallas Mavericks Dancers held their annual calendar photo shoot Sept. 25-27 at the luxurious Branded T Ranch in the Texas Hill Country.

This was the Mavs Dancers first destination calendar shoot since the 2012 calendar when they followed up the Mavericks 2011 NBA championship with a trip to the beaches on the coral island of Barbados.

The ladies rode together as a team on a private bus for the four-hour trek from Dallas to the popular wedding/meeting venue that is located to the southwest of Austin and just north of San Antonio. They arrived at the rustic yet glamorous ranch on Friday evening and the first night was essentially a team-bonding night as the ladies all had dinner together. Afterward, they had a lip-syncing competition that was won by Ashley W., Amber and Emily V. while performing Survivor by Destiny’s Child.

“Each year on the calendar shoot, we get to learn so much about one another,” said six-year veteran Mavs Dancer Lauren. “Just being on the shoots with the girls, you get to interact more and it definitely is a bonding experience.”

The dancers stayed together in the condos on the ranch that several of the girls said were comparable to a Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton hotel room. The crew working behind the scenes on the project all stayed off-property at a nearby hotel.

The photo shoot got under way with each of the ladies having particular call times beginning at sunrise on Saturday and going into Sunday afternoon under the watchful eye of photographers Danny Bollinger and Greg Woodson.

The dancers were all clad in swimsuits provided for the calendar by Bask Boutique in Snider Plaza in University Park and its owner Megan Gembler.

Each of the dancers had their day to be photographed individually (roughly half shot Saturday and half shot Sunday), with the ladies who had the day off taking advantage of the opportunity to explore the vast 197-acre property that is home to 16 different species of free-roaming, exotic animals and hang out by the lake.

Those who were shooting at dawn woke up at 4 a.m. to ensure that they were camera-ready with hair and makeup done to get the desired shots with the sun rising. Makeup was done by Sequel Molina and Chaz Bingham. Hair was done by Marcus Fortenberry and Karley Lott.

Saturday night, the ladies were treated to a private concert by a country folk band and when Sunday’s action was concluded, the calendar shoot was in the books.
