From Dallas Stars Ice Girls Director Christina Swanson:

The Dallas Stars Ice Girls are starting a new tradition this year to honor their alumnae Meagan Flaherty.

Meagan was an Ice Girl from 2007-2011.

During her time as an Ice Girl she not only was she an ambassador for the Dallas Stars, but a true inspiration to everyone around her.

Her laugh was contagious and you couldn’t help but smile after you had a conversation with her. She always made you feel important whenever she was around you, and was always offering a hug or words of encouragement.

Meagan was vibrant, beautiful, hilarious and full of energy.

There wasn’t a negative word associated with Meagan, nor did she ever have anything negative to say.

Not too long ago we lost Meagan to her battle with cancer.

There are not enough words to describe how the Dallas Stars organization, the Dallas Stars Ice Girls and all who knew Meagan felt after the loss of such an amazing woman, we will never forget her dedication to the Stars organization and the lives she touched whether it was fans or teammates.

To honor her and keep her spirit alive, each Ice Girl is spending a week with Teddy Bear Meagan to share her story and pass on a truly inspiring message.

The Dallas Stars Ice Girls wanted to represent just how many lives Meagan touched and the Teddy Bear is a reminder to truly stay positive and live a beautiful life.
