The first Sunday in the 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament lived up to its March Madness mantra with Tennessee blowing a 21-point lead over Iowa only to win 83-77 in OT, but the game of the day was the marquee match-up between Duke and UCF that lived up to its billing.
Behind Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett, Duke held off UFC 77-76 to advance to the Sweet 16.
Williamson had 32 points while Barrett added 16 points for the Blue Devils.
Aubrey Dawkins finished with 32 points to lead the UCF Knights. UCF’s 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall had 15 points and fouled out late in the game.
In other action, North Carolina (1) defeated Washington (9) 81-58.
Texas Tech (3) defeated Buffalo (6) 78-58.
Houston (3) defeated Ohio State (11) 74-59.
