Callie’s Corner: Introducing #WorkoutWednesday

workoutwednesday-01

As we are nearing the end of another audition season, I want to extend my congratulations to all of the ladies who have earned spots on professional and semi-professional dance teams! YOU DID IT! Now the hard work really begins.

As many of you dancers already know, staying fit is crucial to your success in the dance world and will help with your stamina, technique and flexibility. We all know this comes in handy during long hours of practice and auditioning for your spot in each routine. Plus, no one wants to be drained mid-game and risk not performing to their best potential.

Another big reason why prioritizing a fitness routine is key to your success is probably the thought that popped into your mind the moment you read the title of this post- you want to ROCK that uniform! Let’s face it, those crop tops and shorts/skirts, aren’t exactly forgiving. Couple the uniforms with dancing in front of thousands of fans while photographers are taking pictures and videos of you from every angle, and one can feel self-conscious in a matter of a nanosecond. Let’s keep that from happening to you! You’ve worked your booty off to earn that uniform, so you’re going to have to continue the hard work in order to wear it with pride and be an ambassador for your team!

As a retired professional dancer, I know it’s very difficult to work a fitness routine into your already busy schedule filled with a full time job and/or school, family life and friends. Oh, and sleep has to fit somewhere in there, too. 😉 Oftentimes when your season is in full swing, finding time to go to the gym or attend a fitness class is just not conducive to your schedule. That’s why I’m bringing #WorkoutWednesday to prodancecheer.com!  These posts will include fitness and health tips geared toward the dancer on the go. Quick, effective and efficient is the motto we are working with here! Stay tuned for next Wednesday’s post with our first round of fitness tips.
